Meet the panelists: Madeleine, Kathryn

Maddie Mousseau is a senior from the Seattle area in the College. She is majoring in American Studies. Maddie has studied abroad in Morocco and also taken a gap semester abroad. She has been actively involved on campus as a Resident Assistant and in the International Relations Club. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking and trying new teas.

Kathryn is a Senior from Atlanta, Georgia at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business. She is double majoring Marketing and Finance with a minor in English literature. Kathryn is Head of Consulting on the McDonough Global Case Team (MGCT), a member of Innovo Consulting, and a dancer on the Hoya Blue Diamonds dance team. In her free time she also loves to cook, workout with friends, travel with her family, and watch Sci-Fi movies.

Tiana is a junior at Georgetown University, studying government with a double minor in psychology and education, justice, and inquiry studies. She is originally from Augusta, Georgia, but she graduated high school in Stafford, Virginia, #10 out of over 400 students in her graduating class. She is a first generation student, a proud member of the Community Scholars Program and the Georgetown Scholarship Program. She was awarded the Patrick Healy Scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year. She is a member of the Hoya Blue Diamonds, a community service based dance team on campus. She also has a lot of experience working for the Center for Social Justice in DC Reads, the After School Kids Program, and co-led the Criminal Justice Immersion Trip for the Alternative Break Program (March 2020). Outside of school, she enjoys trading/investing in the foreign exchange market, where she is also an independent business owner. She is also a fellow, volunteering for a school board political campaign for Luisa Santos, who graduated from Georgetown University. Something about me that I value is that I am Christian, and I give God credit for where I am today.

Allesandra is a senior from São Paulo, Brazil in the School of Foreign Service. She is pursuing a Bachelor's in Foreign Service with a certification in German. Lele was the co-founder and president of the Rotaract Club of Georgetown University, where she had the opportunity to organize the Rotary International Peace and Conflict Resolution Conference. On campus, Lele is also involved in the Brazilian club and in events of the international community in general, from dance presentations to political debates. In D.C. Lele interned in Congress, where she met countless heads of state, and loved her experience on the Hill. Outside of school, Lele loves to explore different restaurants, travel, and have nice conversations with her friends.

Undergrad College: Harvard University '17

Major: Music

Graduate College: University of Michigan, M.M.

Work Experience: Now in my fourth year at CollegeVine, I have helped dozens of students gain acceptance to their top-choice schools and have also advised and mentored thousands more through my livestreams. Apart from my work at CV, I am also a professional conductor and a multi-instrumentalist. I currently serve as the music director of the Apollo Ensemble of Boston, and I have led symphonic concerts and operatic productions throughout the United States.

My Admissions Story: Initially interested in pursuing a career as a performing cellist, I applied almost exclusively to music schools with dual and double degree options and ultimately enrolled in the Tufts University/New England Conservatory Dual Degree Program. Unhappy with the combined program and worried I'd never feel like I was fully a student at either school, I logged back into CommonApp.org in October of my freshman year. I can't say I went about the transfer process in the smartest way (I only applied to two schools!), but Harvard miraculously accepted me (or 'excepted me' as I wrote in a celebratory Facebook post that day - no one ever let me live that one down), and the rest was history.
