About this livestream

Description

A good letter of rec is easy to come by, but a standout letter takes some planning and foresight. Today, Shravya will walk you through the steps involved in asking and preparing for a letter of rec to optimize your chances of getting into your dream school(s).

She’ll cover who to ask, how to ask them, and what you can do to ensure your recommendation best reflects how you want to be portrayed. She'll also touch on how letters are reviewed by admissions committees to give you a better idea of their role in the application process.

Come prepared to take notes and ask questions, as there will be time throughout the session for Shravya to interact with you all, as well as a Q&A at the end!

Undergrad College: Rice University '20

Work Experience: During my time at Rice, I mentored dozens of high school students through the college application process, along with editing essays and tutoring students for the ACT/SAT. I also interned at a medical technology startup, conducted research in Brazil, and gave a TEDx talk. I recently finished applying to medical school; I've been admitted to multiple schools, and will be starting in the Fall.

My Admissions Story: I remember feeling very blindsided by the admissions process and not knowing where to begin. I hope that sharing my experiences and some of the things I’ve learned along the way will help guide other students in a similar boat.
