If you’re receiving other forms of financial aid, you can still utilize the Millennial Scholarship. The institution you’re attending will provide you with a residual check for the remaining award value. Use this money for an array of educational purchases, including registration fees and textbooks. Students must meet certain criteria to receive the Millennium Scholarship. Currently, prospective recipients need to have graduated in 2017 or later with a diploma from a Nevada public or private high school. Additionally, students need to have lived in Nevada for at least two of their high school years. Moreover, the Millennium Scholarship requires students to meet certain academic standards. In terms of high school coursework, aspiring recipients should complete the following: Students should note that there’s a minimum Millennium Scholarship GPA requirement. To be eligible for this award, you need to earn a 3.25 GPA for all your high school coursework, or receive a qualified score on your college entrance examination. The qualified scores are as follows: if you took the SAT before March 1, 2016, your combined math and reading score should equal a minimum of 990. For students taking the test after this date, the SAT requirement is 1070. Students who opt to take the ACT need a score of 21. If you want to continue receiving benefits through this program, you have to adhere to certain requirements. To stay eligible for the Millenium Scholarship, students must enroll in an eligible Nevada college or university and work toward an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or pre-baccalaureate certificate. If you’re attending an NSHE community college, be sure to take a minimum of nine credits. You’ll have to take 12 credits at other eligible schools. It’s important to note that there’s a minimum Millennium Scholarship GPA requirement once you’re enrolled in school. Students have to maintain a 2.6 GPA for every semester until they reach 30 credits. At that point, their GPA requirement changes to 2.75. Failing to meet the minimum GPA can result in you receiving a strike and having your scholarship suspended. If you meet the requirements in a subsequent semester, the Nevada Board of Regents will restore your award. However, if you lose eligibility a second time, you will be removed from the program permanently.
