Envision by WorldStrides has been guiding students towards success in college, career, and life for almost four decades.
Join us for this info session where Dr. Jan Sikorsky, Envision’s Head of Innovation, will discuss how pre-college residential experiences can better prepare high school students to join their peers as college freshmen.
Intensive national research has shown that college students are unprepared in four major areas: inadequate college knowledge, immature critical thinking skills, underdeveloped academic behaviors, and deficient core content knowledge. Through immersive curricula and carefully curated experiences, Envision’s high school programs give students a taste of life in and beyond college; allowing them to make more informed decisions on where to attend and what to study as they further their development.
Collaborative project work, career-based simulations, and skills development workshops are the backbone of each program and are complemented by traditional lectures and presentations from university faculty and subject area experts.
In addition to advancing their understanding of the program’s core content area, completion of a program helps students in each of the other areas highlighted above:
• Increasing college knowledge: students will identify how college operates as both a system and culture through a first-hand experience
• Developing critical thinking skills: students will be able to analyze information and apply knowledge through workshops that stress critical thinking and problem solving
• Enhancing behaviors that support academic and social success: students will apply key skills such as time management, communication, self-awareness and team building among others
Bring your questions or just sit and listen during this informative discussion on how to best prepare for college life by incorporating pre-college immersion program(s).
